About Us

Et. Cetera Shop

The Et. Cetera Shop opened its doors at 300 North Main Hutchinson as a nonprofit shop December 1, 1978. The goal was to give the community the opportunity to donate good quality new and used items no longer needed, to provide a place to purchase quality items at reasonable prices, and to support the Ten Thousand Villages program of the Mennonite Central Committee.

As the shop grew, it quickly outgrew the space at 300 North Main and now are open at 22 North Main Hutchinson.  While no longer supporting the Ten Thousand Villages program of MCC, we continue to support MCC's mission of working for relief, development and peace throughout the world, as well as, many local non-profit organizations and outreaches. Further information of MCC can be accessed at their website.

Seconds on 2nd

Seeing the need for additional space, a second store, Builders Bargains, was opened in 2015 at 1326 East Avenue A Hutchinson and after outgrowing that facility, operated out of 329 West 5th Hutchinson. However, as operations continued to expand, another move was required. In March of 2025, 118 W. 2nd Ave. was purchased and construction to transition the store there is underway. At this time the store was rebranded to Seconds on 2nd.

Both the Et. Cetera Shop and Seconds on 2nd operate via dedicated staff and volunteers. There are many ways to be involved and the need for volunteers only continues to grow. Singles, couples, youth groups, churches, small groups all have opportunities to volunteer and assist in the operations. Find out more by visiting our Get Involved tab at the top of the page.

The Team

Sharissa Withrow - Seconds on 2nd Manager

My name is Sharissa Withrow and I am the Site Manager of the newly branded Seconds
on 2 nd (formerly k/a Builders Bargains). Seconds on 2 nd is a non-profit thrift store of
lightly used merchandise and the brother company to Et Cetera Shop of Hutchinson.
I have been manager of Builders Bargains now Seconds on 2 nd for 3 years and I thrive
at all the challenges it presents. I started volunteering at Builders Bargains in
November of 2021 to set up the medical department, which took a few months. I then
started working and learning the rest of the day to day business. I very much enjoy the
customers and the new tests and trials each day brings. I know God placed me here
because of my compassion and strong belief in helping others in need.
I am a very hands on person with a strong work ethic and strong personality to match. I
had a bridal business for several years in Hutchinson and enjoyed that as well. My
educational and background is in Accounting and HR but I have done a wide cast of
other jobs. One particular achievement I am proud of is I learned to drive a train engine
for switching and moving cars, something I never imagined doing. I have also worked in
Construction, ran a Hoist for a salt company and mowed residential and commercial
lawns for 25+ years.
I am a Child of God and believe he places us where we can serve him best. I have 4
children and 13 grandchildren who are all the sunshine in my life. I enjoy time with my
friends and helping those who need it, when I can. I do enjoy all things outdoors,
including outside work.
I am excited to start a new journey with our new Store “Second on 2 nd ” and I know this
will be full of challenges as well as great rewards. I pray God uses me and our Store to
help those who need a helping hand.

Delon Martins - Et Cetera Shop Manager

After a 45-year career as an elementary teacher and administrator, my wife and I thought it would be great to volunteer with the Et Cetera Shop because we believe in their mission of supporting Mennonite Central Committee's efforts of relief, development and peace in the name of Christ both globally and locally.

Initially that involvement was with the Yoder Et Cetera Shop, but when it closed in 2020, we became involved with the Hutchinson Et Cetera Shop and after a number of years of volunteering, I was given the opportunity to serve as manager, a role I've often described as being "the leader of a group of volunteers who also believe in supporting the needs of people both globally and locally."

It's a challenge, but one that I enjoy.  It's also given my wife and me the opportunity to travel to Haiti, Bolivia, Zambia and Malawi to observe the work that MCC is doing in each of those countries.  Each day poses different challenges and opportunity to be of service and I invite you to come visit us.

We have a great store!  I find great joy in watching customers browse through the store, looking carefully at many items that often bring back memories and then walking out the door as happy shoppers.  Come be one of those happy shoppers.

Our Volunteers

Without the dedication of each of our volunteers we would not be able to do all that we do!
